At 2.5 km from Mazunte lies the virgin beach of Ventanilla, where sea turtles come to lay their eggs. Behind the beach is a lagoon, which serves as a refuge for many families of crocodiles. The few inhabitants of the village have organized themselves into cooperatives and offer a short boat ride across the lagoon and its island to discover birds, crocodiles, iguanas and other deer. From October to March, massive arrivals of turtles; this phenomenon taking place at night, it is better to stay camping or sleeping in one of the huts.
