ESTERO SAN JOSÉ
Estuary that represents the mouth of the San José River where he had established the first Jesuit mission.
The city of San José del Cabo has developed in such a way as not to affect the estuary. The estuary is the mouth of the San José River, which originates in the Sierra La Laguna and ends its course in the Sea of Cortés. It was here that the first Jesuit mission was established, before being relocated away from the billions of mosquitoes that populate the area. The estuary covers an area of 140 hectares and serves as a refuge for many species of birds, both endemic and migratory; winter is the best time to observe them.
