MISIÓN DE SAN IGNACIO DE KADAKAAMÁN
Church that is one of the most beautiful religious buildings in Baja California, founded in 1728 in San Ignacio
This church (sometimes called Misión de San Ignacio de Loyola), which was founded in 1728, is one of the most beautiful religious buildings in Baja California. For its construction, blocks of volcanic rock 1.20 m thick were used. This characteristic has allowed the temple to survive the passage of centuries, unlike most of the other missions in the region, which have been rebuilt. The word kadakaamán comes from the Guatchimis and means river of reeds.
