The most beautiful church in the city, with an interior featuring a carved wooden pulpit that stands out for its two altarpieces.
This is undeniably the city's most beautiful church. Its original construction, together with the adjacent monastery, was initiated between 1547 and 1560. The Baroque façade, finely decorated with mortar modelling (a mixture of lime, sand and water), is a 17th-century addition. Severely damaged by an earthquake in 1902, the church was restored in 1975 and its façade refurbished in 2006. The interior features a magnificent carved wooden lectern, two fine altarpieces and a profusion of gilded decorations.
