Museum inaugurated in 1985 to discover interesting pieces of Zoque and Mayan cultures in Tuxtula Gutierrez
This museum deals with Olmec expansion, the adoption of agriculture, the decline of Mayan civilization and the emergence of autonomous chiefdoms. It also offers an insight into the history of the state from the arrival of the Spanish in 1524 to the period of the Revolution. You'll discover the Tiltepec monoliths, treasures recovered from the Chiapa de Corzo tombs, and a variety of pieces such as carved stones, worked bones and shells.
