LA ADUANA
La Aduna, a famous mine a few kilometers from Alamos, preserving today some architectural remains of those times
It is in this place, hidden in the sierra, 11 km from Alamos, that the famous La Libertad de la Quintera mine was exploited. It is reached by taking a small path that branches off the main road, aptly named A la Aduana. The conquistador Vasquez de Coronada settled here in 1540 in the hope of finding gold. The mine closed in 1906, but today it retains some architectural remains from those prosperous times. A visit to the site and the surrounding area at sunset is highly recommended.
