MUSEO DE ARTE SACRO
Museum with sculptures in its porticos, with its monumental organ and allowing to discover the works of recognized painters
The construction of the cathedral that houses the museum began in 1635, but it was in the following century that it acquired its notable Baroque features. Consecrated in 1844, it stands out for the sculptures on its porticoes, the decoration of its three naves, its monumental organ and the abundance of liturgical objects. The Casa de las Rosas (House of the Roses) and the Palacio de las Lagrimas (Palace of the Lagrimas), in a more Porfirian style, stand in the same square. The Museo de Arte Sacro (Museum of Sacred Art) contains 500 pieces from the 17th and 18th centuries, including works by well-known New Spanish painters.
