The beauty and harmony of the building, inaugurated in 1764 and once owned by the rich mining concessionaire and landowner Joseph Campo Soberón y Larrea, make it the architectural jewel of Durango and one of the most beautiful buildings in the north of the country. The main hall is topped by a glass roof protecting the courtyard. At the next door, which opens onto the former private vault room, opens a garden with half-timbered rooms. Its interior is baroque with infinite rococo motifs.
