TEATRO FERNANDO CALDERON
Theater dating from 1891 to 1897 with architecture based on the canons of the French and Italian schools, with various functions
Built from 1891 to 1897, on the site of the old enclosure destroyed by fire, it corresponds to the policy of President Porfirio Díaz to orient the country towards a European-style development, concretized here by an architecture modelled on the canons of the French and Italian schools of the time. After the Revolution, the building became a cinema, a boxing ring, a political arena, etc., until 1962, when it became part of the city's university, which gradually restored it to its former glory.
