Inaugurated in 1965 by President Léopold Sédar Senghor, the Daniel Sorano National Theatre, named after the famous Franco-Senegalese actor, is a modern theatre with an Italian-style stage that can accommodate more than 1,000 people. Throughout the year, it offers a varied program, ranging from performances by the National Ballet to concerts by more or less well-known artists. There are also plays and shows for children.
