This 175-hectare island is subject to seasonal flooding, and its environment is rich in flora and fauna.
Ten kilometers long and almost four hundred meters wide, it covers three hundred and seventy-five hectares, many of which are classified as nature reserves. This island is subject to seasonal flooding, especially in the spring when the Rhine floods give it the opportunity to regenerate its natural environment, which is exceptionally rich in flora and fauna. Five hundred plant species, ten species of mushrooms, one hundred and forty species of birds, thirty-nine dragonflies and as many bees and wild wasps are listed here!
