GROUPE WAFLASH
As you approach Thiès, you can still see the name of the band or that of its star singer (and only girl), Ma Sané, as tags on the walls. A group of childhood friends who were passionate about music and who established themselves on the international music scene at the end of the 1990s. At that time, the group played concerts in Africa, Europe and Asia, but it was always at the Palais des Arts, on their first stage, that they returned regularly, making Thiés proud. Marked by several influences, they excel in acoustics, but are not afraid of any style (mbalakh, salsa, rap...). At least seven products to their credit, more often on cassette, including the very good Mappando (with Ken Stringfellow) and Bella Casa. In their songs, they talk about social facts, conveying the cultural identity of their hometown. Today, only the name remains, reminiscent of that flourishing era when the group created an explosive atmosphere at the Palais des Arts. Each member took advantage of the opportunities available to them abroad. But childhood friends talk about meeting up again to share the passion that united them. A reunion to follow....
