HANSEN HOUSE
This former leper colony was established in 1887 by Jerusalem's Protestant community to accommodate the many lepers begging outside the Jaffa Gate. In the early 2010s, the Jerusalem City Council transformed the buildings into a cultural center dedicated to design, technology and contemporary art. High-quality temporary exhibitions are organized, including the Jerusalem Design Festival. A permanent exhibition describes the history of the site. A magnificent garden and the Offaimm organic café make the whole a particularly pleasant place to be.
