CORDES BRIDGE
Inaugurated in 2008, this gigantic suspension bridge is the work of Spanish engineer-architect Santiago Calatrava, who is credited with many major infrastructure projects around the world. The 4,300-tonne steel structure is supported by 66 cables and stretches 360 metres, reaching a height of 120 m at its central mast. The cables are arranged to create a three-dimensional parabolic shape reminiscent of King David's harp, a symbol of the Holy City. The tramway uses this splendid structure, which is even more beautiful at night.
