YEMIN MOSHE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The Montefiore Mill dominates this quiet, picturesque neighborhood, opposite Mount Zion. Built in 1857 by Sir Moses Montefiore, a famous English Jew, the district was home to the very first dwellings outside the old town walls. But it wasn't until 1892 that houses began to spring up around the original small core. Yemin Moshe was abandoned between 1948 and 1967, when Jerusalem was partitioned. Today, completely renovated and reinvested, it is an upscale residential district with a beautiful view of the Old City.
