You are here at the border of the ultra-orthodox neighbourhood of Mea Shearim. It is in a house of this street, at No. 11, that was inhabited by Eliezer Ben Yehouda, who (re) invented modern Hebrew. His son, who grew up in this house, was the first child, since the destruction of the Second Temple, to be raised in Hebrew. In front of the house of Ben Yehuda, you will find a beautiful Ethiopian church with bronze covered dome built between 1896 and 1904, which gave its name to the street. You will need to déchausser to enter.
