After years of postponements and complications, the first streetcar line has finally been built and is scheduled to begin operations in summer 2023. This red line connects Bat Yam in the south to Tel Aviv-Jaffa, and Ramat Gan and Petah Tikva in the north. Work on the purple line (scheduled to open in 2026) and the green line (scheduled to open in 2028) is underway, temporarily disrupting other means of transport in the city. Once the streetcar is up and running, the city will be better connected to its region by public transport.
