It is the oldest bookstore chain in Israel. The first store was opened in 1925 in Jerusalem by Ye'hezkel Steimatzky, an immigrant of Russian origin. Today, the chain has over 100 stores throughout the country. You will find books in Hebrew of course, but also in English and sometimes in Arabic. Many children's books are offered, as well as toys. Israelis often go there to buy gifts. Don't hesitate to ask around, as there are often special offers.
