TEL AVIV UNIVERSITY
Founded in the 1950s, Tel Aviv University opened its current campus in Ramat-Aviv in 1969. Today, it is Israel's largest university, with over 100 departments and research laboratories. You can stroll freely around the campus, which is very green and planted with trees. The Cymbalista synagogue and the Jewish Heritage Center (an imposing two-tower building) were designed and built by Swiss architect Mario Botta. Four buildings constructed between the 50s and 70s embody the so-called Brutalist style, an architectural form derived from Modernism.
