LEVINSKI MARKET
Less well known than the shuk HaCarmel, the Levinski market is nevertheless the city's most authentic and folkloric. Side by side, small stalls sell all sorts of Romanian, Turkish and Latino specialties, kosher meat and non-kosher cheeses, olives, exotic spices and dried fruits, in between various cafés and restaurants. Listen carefully and you'll still hear people speaking to each other in Ladino, Judeo-Spanish. This market maintains a certain nostalgia in the heart of Florentine, the city's chillest district.
