INDEPENDENCE MUSEUM
The museum has been undergoing renovation for many years: the reopening originally scheduled for 2023 has been postponed until 2024. On May 14, 1948, the man who was to become Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, declared the birth of the Hebrew state in the hall of this house, which belonged to the city's first mayor, Meir Dizengoff. In 1978, the historic site was refurbished and opened to the public. The photo exhibition looks back at the events leading up to this declaration. The entrance features a portrait of the father of Zionism, Theodore Herzl.
