NEGEV MUSEUM OF ART & MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC AND NEAR EASTERN CULTURES
The Negev Musuem of Art is located in a house built in 1906. This superb building was the governor's house during the Ottoman period before being used as a residence of the British administrator, school of girls, and then municipal building. Temporary exhibitions exhibit Israeli and international artist works in three galleries. At the same address, we find The Museum of Islamic and Near Eastern Cultures. Inaugurated in December 2014 in another part of the ancient Ottoman era called Great Mosque Building, this museum succeeded the previous archaeological museum that existed since 1952. It houses archaeological exhibits discovered in Israel and mostly owned by Islamic culture and art.
