Eilat's city center covers the entire area to the west of the former airport, or Eilat Airport, now closed in favor of Ramon International Airport, 18 km to the north. The city center is thus located to the north-west of the Gulf, and comprises mainly residential areas, a few hotels, small shops and the bus station. To the south-west, near the first beaches and North Beach, are the New Tourist Center (with several bars and restaurants), the Eilat Museum and the Art Gallery.
