The seafront is divided into two seaside resorts, where beaches are king. This is where the heart of Eilat beats, especially in season when vacationers and summer visitors come to bask in the sun. North Beach comprises the luxury hotel zone, built around the marina and the two artificial lagoons of Eilat Lagon and Peace Lagon. Numerous public beaches follow one another from the huge Mall HaYam Shopping Center to the religious beach, some 2 kilometers past Herods Palace. The whole beach complex is a very popular area. The main promenade is known by several names, which can lead to confusion in the addresses you will be given: Derech Pa'amei HaShalom, North Beach Promenade, la Tayelette, Promenade Royale. The end of the Promenade has even been named after one of the grand hotels that line it: The Herod's Promenade. The city's official tourist office is located near the bridge that spans the entrance to Eilat Lagoon from the marina. South Beach & Coral Beach. This area stretches south of the city for around 9 kilometers, from downtown Eilat to the Egyptian border. In between are the naval base, the port of Eilat, Dolphin Reef, Coral Beach Nature Reserve, the underwater observatory and beautiful stretches of beach with numerous hotels and diving clubs. The last stretch of beach before the Egyptian border is completely free. Taba Road (route no. 90) is the main road along the seafront. |
