To the east of the main station, near Faisal Square and the industrial port, lies the former Haifa East station, a stone building from the Ottoman period. Today it's a museum, with restored model trains, locomotives and full-size wagons well worth a look. The history of the Israeli railroad is traced from its Ottoman beginnings. The first railroad line between Jaffa and Jerusalem was inaugurated in 1892.
