AKHZIVLAND
In 1971, Eli Avivi founded Akhzivland, a micro-state whose territory was limited to his house and the land surrounding it, a former Arab village whose inhabitants had all been driven out during the Naqba. A self-elected president for life, Eli received visitors and stamped their passports with his "visa". He passed away in 2018 and since then the place has lost some of its hippie charm, but the museum, which houses all sorts of objects collected over the years, is still worth a visit. The view of the sea is magnificent and the beach is easily accessible.
