WHITE MOSQUE (WHITE MOSQUE)
The mosque El-Abyad, or white mosque, was the first mosque built in Nazareth and remained the only mosque until 1964 (year of construction of Salam Mosque). Started in 1785, it was completed in 1804. However, numerous beautification works were carried out later. In his court, the tomb of Sheikh Abdullah al-Fahoum, administrator of the city of Nazareth, made the initial work. Between 200 and 100 believers attend it daily. On Friday, 1 000 to 1 500 people are pressing. Inside, an educational centre operates all week and a small museum open to visitors recounts the history of the city.
