The mausoleum that covers the grave of Rabbi Akiva (Rabbi Akiva ben Yosseph) lies on the west heights of Tiberias. Born in the year 50, this wise man is recognized as one of the most scholars of Judaism. He was tortured then killed by the Romans in 137 ha. Following the role he played during the Bar Bar revolt between the year 132 and the year 135. He was among the ten dead martyrs for having defied Roman power.
