TZFAT'S CEMETERY
Don't miss to walk through the alleys of the old cemetery of Safed, where the tsadikim (wisdom of the Torah) are buried in the city: Rabbi Isaac Luria (Ari), Rabbi Schlomo AlKabetz, Rabbi Joseph Caro… A section is also devoted to those who lost their lives during the war of Independence in 1948. Most of the tombs are painted in blue, the colour adopted by the city, and give the cemetery an additional charm. Two access is possible from the old town. On the left of the road leading to the cemetery from Ha'Ari Sephardic Synagogue, you will see the Ari (ritual bath) of Ari, known among the Jews for his extraordinary powers of purification.
