Central America's first metro line was inaugurated in 2014, after just 3 years of construction. Air-conditioned and convenient, the 16-km Line 1 has 14 stations and links Albrook (bus terminal, mall) to San Isidro, in 23 minutes (the same journey by car takes 1 to 2 hours). The most useful for tourists are "5 de Mayo" (near Casco Viejo), "Iglesia del Carmen" and "Via Argentina" (Cangrejo). Line 2 serves the east of the capital, including Tocumen airport. A3rd line for the west of the capital is currently under construction.
