Founded in 2003 by the prestigious Panamanian pianist Danilo Pérez, the country's most important week-long jazz festival brings together music school students and internationally renowned artists. The festival funds the educational programs of the Danilo Pérez Foundation, which offers children from disadvantaged homes the chance to integrate into society through music. Concerts are usually held outdoors, notably in the Ciudad del Saber, or in the intimate setting of Danilo's Jazz Club in Casco Viejo.
