CASA DE LA MUNICIPALIDAD
The original building dates from 1881, but its current form of neoclassical style, from 1934. It is the work of the famous Peruvian architect Leonardo Villanueva Meyer. The building is located in the place of the walls that surrounded the colonial city and that, having no more use in the middle of the XIX century, were demolished in 1856. The remains of the Puerta de Tierra, the old gateway to the old city, can still be seen inside. Today, the building is the seat of the most important ceremonial acts of the Panamanian City Hall.
