PALACIO DE LAS GARZAS
After housing the Spanish governors during the colonial period, the palace housed the Pacific Customs before becoming the presidential residence in 1872. The building was remodeled in 1922 by Leonardo Villanueva Meyer. Its name "Heron Palace" refers to the two herons that President Belisario Porras received as gifts in the 1920s and which he installed in his home. The tradition continues, with majestic herons still roaming the grounds of the palace. If you are lucky enough to enter, admire the Moorish patio and the sumptuous salons.
