PALACIO BOLÍVAR
The sessions of the Pan American Congress of 1826 were held in a room of the Franciscan convent, known today as the Salón Bolívar, where the original of the Protocols of the Isthmus, the first agreements signed by the plenipotentiaries of the invited republics, are kept. This Pan-American Congress, organized by Bolivar, had the objective of creating a confederation of the former Spanish viceroyalties of the continent, which did not see the light of day but inspired some! The Palacio now houses the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
