BIOMUSEO
The Biomuseo was designed by Frank Gehry, the world famous Canadian architect (author of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao), whose wife is Panamanian. This is his first work in Latin America. The museum is designed to tell the story of the geological creation of the isthmus, how it came to unite two continents and separate an ocean into two, and the upheaval it caused to the planet's biodiversity. The steel building, known as " Puente de Vida ", with its irregular silhouette and bright colors reminiscent of the beak of the toucan, is surrounded by a botanical garden. Guided tours around the architecture are frequently organized.
Of all the exhibition spaces, the Panamarama is without doubt the most impressive. The viewer is literally immersed in the heart of the natural wonders of the country thanks to 10 giant screens all around him. The gallery of the great change allows to trace the crossing of the animal species of the North and the South of America: do not hesitate to touch the giant sculptures, it is allowed! Notice the counter of humans living on Earth in the Biodiversity Gallery, where colored panels also inform about the degree of threat to the animals on our planet. Perfect for families with young children, the museum is fun, educational, and accessible as it covers the basics of biodiversity issues and the staff is responsive to your questions. From the café, a superb view of the Bridge of the Americas.
