IGLESIA DE SAN ATANASIO
Not far from the Bolivar Park, in the center of the town, this colonial church of mudejar style was founded in 1569 by Francisco de Ábrego, bishop of the time. It is considered the first church in the Azuero Peninsula. It was declared a national monument in 1938. Its white walls highlight the richness of the altarpiece of the Immaculate Conception (1721) with gold, red and blue ornaments. Look up to the ceiling with its elaborate woodwork. Every year it is the center of celebration for the Corpus Christi festivities.
