The church, which suffered terribly in the earthquake of 1802, was subsequently rebuilt in the traditional style of Panamanian colonial churches. A fire in 1950 also caused considerable damage... Nevertheless, its wood and tile architecture and its gold-leafed altarpiece continue to impress visitors. Santa Librada is venerated by all the tableños and faithful of the region during the patron saint's procession at the end of July. At nightfall, the church is beautifully illuminated.
