Dominating the Gulf of San Miguel, the forts of San Carlos (in Boca Chica) and San Lorenzo (in Boca Grande), dating from the 18th century, were part of the Spanish colonial defensive system. Still little known and overgrown, these ruins take us back to a tumultuous history during which French, Dutch and English pirates caused the Spaniards many problems. During the trip, you may see dolphins in the bay.
