At the eastern end of the Brian Lara Promenade stands the Roman Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, built from 1816 to 1832 in a neo-Gothic style. It features impressive stained glass windows depicting the different ethnic components of Trinidad. Around the cathedral, dozens of small Indian or Chinese restaurants are the favorite canteens of the thousands of office workers who work in the financial complex and the administrative buildings.
