Also called St David's tower, it is a circular fortress built by the English in 1797 to dominate the port. Its architecture is inspired by the defense towers of Mortella, in Corsica, against which the English army had experienced many setbacks, not managing to bring down the city defended by a single garrison taking refuge in the tower. The view on Port of Spain and its bay is very nice. Rumor has it that an underground passage starts from this fortress and ends near the pier located a hundred meters below.
