"The Coffee", as it's known here, used to be at the heart of a plantation district. Today, it's a street known for its steel bands , which have their own workshop to prepare for carnival. The most famous of these is Fonclaire, along with the Skiffle Bunch panyard. A statue of a pan player stands at the intersection of Coffee and Cipero Street, symbolizing the activity of the neighborhood. In the weeks leading up to Carnival, the atmosphere is at its height as everyone comes to watch their favorite band practice.
