STATUE OF ST. JOSEPH
Erected in 1860 in the heart of this plantation named Saint-Joseph Estate, this beautiful white statue of almost 150 years old contrasts with the landscape of greenery and coconut trees on the beach. Moreover, it is turned towards the sea, contemplating it for eternity. François Alphonse Ganteaume, grandson of the founders of the plantation, is the author of this work. His ancestors, the founders, were the Ganteaume de Monteau brothers who arrived in Trinidad in 1793 from Martinique. Their tomb is remarkable in the Lapeyrouse cemetery in Port of Spain.
