Once past Golden Lane, a small road turns left down into Culloden Bay. Close to the huge Kapok tree, which produces the fiber once used to stuff seats, lies, according to legend, the tomb of the African witch Gang Gang Sara. She is said to have arrived in Tobago by flying over the Atlantic. It was a one-way trip: having drunk salt water, she lost all her magical powers, including the ability to fly. Unable to return to Africa, she ended her days in Tobago.
