Opened in 1976, Asrafee Bookshop is one of the oldest bookshops in Malé. It is where schoolchildren and students come for their school supplies, where offices stock up on reams of paper and ink cartridges and where readers in search of new books come to browse. The only drawback is that the books are in English. But you can find some nice books on the Maldives to bring back as souvenirs or to give as gifts. The shop also sells artistic material, paint and coloured pencils.
