THEEMUGE PALACE
Theemuge is the former presidential palace, commissioned by former president Abdul Gayoom in 1994. He resided there between 1998 and 2008. It is now the seat of the Supreme Court of the Maldives. It is a large white and blue mansion, whose architecture mixes tradition and modernity with refinement. Theemuge has become one of the main tourist attractions of Malé. But above all, it is in front of this building that pro and anti-Nasheed opposed each other during the events of February 2012, which saw the former President lose power.
