Attracting more and more visitors to Cacao every year, the rambutan harvest ends with a big party.
The village of Cacao hosts the annual rambutan festival in April (check the exact dates). The Hmong people, who are great fans and growers of this tropical fruit also known as "hairy lychee", invite the inhabitants of French Guiana to come and take part in the rambutan harvest in a festive and friendly atmosphere. A market is held to mark the occasion, where rambutans are sold for a token price. Dances and songs, folkloric finery, the festival is in full swing and attracts more and more participants every year!
