THE CONFOLENT BRIDGE
Go there and contact
For a long time, Beauzac and Confolent were isolated from the villages of Bas-en-Basset and Monistrol-sur-Loire and the main communication axes. Several ferries, including one in Confolent, ensured passage from shore to shore. But the service was irregular (especially in flood periods) and unsuitable for the transportation of materials (for example, Pierres Bridge quarry stones). After reading the report, the General Council voted on the construction of a bridge suspended at the confluence of the Loire and Lignon. The bridge was built in 8 months and started in January 1863. The latter is classified in the Historical Monuments Inventory. The new Lignon Bridge Bridge linking, via the RN 88, Lignon Saint-Maurice in Monistrol-sur-Loire, was opened for circulation in November 1994. It has a maximum height of 112 metres over Lignon.
