This small Taoist temple was built in the late nineteenth century by Yap Ah Loy, in honor of his faithful and dedicated advisor, Sze Ya The temple is built obliquely, in accordance with feng shui. The temple houses a statue of Kuan Ti, god of literature and studies. Many red calligraphic papers were piled up in front of him: these were the requests for success in the exams. On the left and right on the sides are small shops. The whole is protected from the outside world by the alleyway which reduces all noise.
