Opposite Independence Square stands this superb Anglo-Indian style building. Designed in 1894 by the architect Hubback, this former headquarters of the English colonial government now houses the Ministry of Communication. A mixture of Moorish and Victorian architecture, it is the most imposing and majestic of the city's colonial buildings. In 1974, it was renamed after Abdul Samad, the King of Selangor in office when the building was constructed.
