National Museum of Visual Arts, the gallery houses a permanent collection of works by contemporary Malaysian artists. The stunning concrete, glass and steel structure also houses temporary exhibitions of Asian and international art. It shows the abundance of artistic activity that has taken place across the country, particularly since independence. Calligraphy, pop art, painting on textile, the Malaysian spirit is forged and declined through many works. Adjacent to the gallery is the National Theatre (Istana Budaya), a stunning building of marble and wood.
